Think Happy Thoughts

February 8, 2010

Happy Monday Morning folks!  For those of you in love, planning a wedding or already married… maybe you could spontaneously call that person and tell them you love them.  Sometimes the words “I love you” get diluted because we say it so much, when ever we hang up the phone or when someone leaves.  Despite the truth in the meaning of it, it doesn’t carry as much weight as a random “I love you”  Try it and let me know how that goes for you  : )  Here’s today’s quote:

“For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.” – Judy Garland

PhotoSLAM

February 3, 2010

Anyone out there LOVE photos, LOVE socializing with friends, LOVE getting out of the house on a boring Thursday night!?  The Photographic Resource Center at B.U. (PRC) is hosting a PhotoSLAM.  It’s kind of a poetry slam, but with photos instead.  I’ll be there showing 5 of my favorite photos along with a bunch of other PRC members and photographers.  The crowd gets to vote on who has the best photos by cheering.  Noisiest photo wins!

The PRC website states “Clear your schedules, photo enthusiasts—it’s time for another PRC PhotoSLAM! The PhotoSLAM is a digital slide show of ALL submitted photographs—a showcase of the talent within the PRC membership… bring your friends and narrate your entries the day of the slam; and make as much noise as you can to help select the winners.

This event fills up every time they have it so get there early.  Here’s the info:

“Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.” – Aristotle

Happy Monday morning folks!  I like this quote because it makes me think of souls and love in a greater way.  Each of us has our own soul, but does love have it’s own?  Or, do we really become one in love and marriage?  Hmmm.  Anyway… what do you think?

This is a photo I took at the Burning Man art festival in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada in 2004.

Yay!  Our Happiness or Bust photo has been featured on a new local wedding blog, check it out, BeantownBride.com

Think Happy Thoughts

January 25, 2010

It’s an early Monday morning after a long night.  It’s difficult to find inspiration, to think happily.  At the least, this blog segment keeps me working towards that place that feels better.  So here’s today’s quote.

“Manifest plainness, embrace simplicity. Reduce selfishness, have few desires.”

Easier said than done, but let’s give it a whirl!  Have a good day!  : )

Think Happy Thoughts

January 18, 2010

If you lost control of your hand and it started punching you in the face… you’d quickly find a way to control your hand.  So why don’t we control our mind when it hurts us?  It sounds obvious but people let their minds beat themselves up all day long.  We think poorly of ourselves, that we’re not as good as we thought we were, that we’re not that smart or thin enough.

Today’s happy thought is inspired by author T. Harv Eker.  Often times it’s difficult for people to maintain this idea of always thinking positively.  What helped me was the idea that thoughts are neither positive or negative, just a brain synapse.  Some of them serve us and some make our lives more difficult.  If we think  poorly of ourselves, we feel bad too.  Then we say the wrong thing, take the wrong actions and ultimately create negative consequences.  Today I’m going to notice when I have negative thoughts and exchange them with thoughts that serve me and that are healthy.
