One of the greatest things about my job is all the wonderful people I get to meet and photograph along the way. This is a portrait of Dr. Eliana Gil. She is a critically aclaimed and internationally recognized speaker, author, mother and quite the engaging subject. Our time frame for the shoot was limited, but within 15 minutes we were able to walk away with the shot she wanted, plus some. For more information about Eliana, click on her link above.

My lecture at the Hallmark Institute of Photography went very well. I was well received and was able to impart some of my experience as a photographer to the students. The students were very inquisitive and had lots of questions for me. I’m very passionate about my work and am always happy to share what I’ve learned about photography. Here is a photo of me speaking on stage. Photo courtesy of Cory Silken

Madeira Family Portraits

February 9, 2008

This portrait session was done at the family’s house. Despite the large size of the group and the challenge of the limited space, I was still able to get the shot.

Wednesday, February 6th I will be speaking at the Hallmark Institute of Photography about my experiences as a Boston Wedding Photographer. I will be there as a guest of Andrew Kessler, the owner of Coffeepond Photography. Here is an excerpt from the Hallmark website: “To round out the morning presentation, Andrew will be moderating a panel of “freelancers” from around New England who will share their opinions and experiences about their careers in the industry. Included in this informative panel are Jeff Scher, Christin Kahn, Troy Dodds, James Lindley, Edson Dias, Cory Silken, Tiffany White, Laura Pineda, all successful photographers from New England.”

She’s here! Congratulations to Jay and Cindy as they welcome to the world their beautiful, healthy baby girl Lexi. I look forward to many wonderful years of photographing your family.

January 24, 2008

I’ve been fortunate enough to be with Jay and Cindy photographically, from the day he proposed, to their engagement, to their wedding and to their pregnancy photo session (pictured here). We have already scheduled the first baby photo session, as she is almost here. Here are my favorites, hope you like them.

Photos From Our Equator

January 18, 2008

The end of 2007 brought a few challenges as life does from time to time. Barring those setbacks, entry into the New Year was filled with warmth, excitement and adventure. My fiance and I left the monochromatic, winter wonderland we call the Northeast, and vacated to the Ecuadorian ocean side where I got to meet her wonderful family, who were so very kind to us. These are some of my favorite photos from the trip. This first photo was taken at the beautiful beach front condo in Punta Blanca. The next photos were captured along the Ruta Del Sol, the main roadway weaving through the rural towns along the Pacific coast. Wide-eyed and friendly, the wild dogs owned the streets. The sea breeze salted our skin as the dusty brown earth covered our feet. We stayed at Ata Mari, a magical resort set in the foothills of the Andes mountains. The divinity of the nature around us continued to astound us. In this one photo, the clouds opened up to illuminate one shining little spot, almost as if it were solely meant for my photograph, and then vanished as quickly as it came. On our return trip we stayed for a night in this bustling little surf town where I caught this young couple embracing in the midst of the happy chaos they call Montanita. Our photographic journey ended in Guayaquil, the Ecuadorian metropolis hosting some 3 million people. These two little green birds, lovers I thought, couldn’t have helped this photograph any better. All in all, an excellent trip, I hope you enjoy the photos.

Rock the Wedding Bells

December 8, 2007

This was a fun wedding to shoot. Both the bride and groom are into hard rock music and brought an edgy feel to the wedding. Getting married right around Halloween, they went with a fitting, macabre and fun theme. Not so into the kitchy type photography, this couple was able to get loose and allow me to capture more fun and

spontaneous moments. Yet again, as you might notice in the first photograph, I used a reflector to get the lighting just perfect. That’s probably my favorite shot of the day, hope you like it.

Designers Wedding

December 1, 2007

Michaela, the bride at my latest wedding is a graphic designer and did all of the printed materials. Invitations, programs, place cards , table numbers and everything else was all in a matching brown and white theme.

The lighting in these photos was achieved by using a reflector. To do this with only one person is not really possible. I will always have an assistant at every wedding to help create images such as these, and it makes all the difference.

They were a great couple to work with. Here are some of my favorites from the day.
