Photos From Our Equator

January 18, 2008

The end of 2007 brought a few challenges as life does from time to time. Barring those setbacks, entry into the New Year was filled with warmth, excitement and adventure. My fiance and I left the monochromatic, winter wonderland we call the Northeast, and vacated to the Ecuadorian ocean side where I got to meet her wonderful family, who were so very kind to us. These are some of my favorite photos from the trip. This first photo was taken at the beautiful beach front condo in Punta Blanca. The next photos were captured along the Ruta Del Sol, the main roadway weaving through the rural towns along the Pacific coast. Wide-eyed and friendly, the wild dogs owned the streets. The sea breeze salted our skin as the dusty brown earth covered our feet. We stayed at Ata Mari, a magical resort set in the foothills of the Andes mountains. The divinity of the nature around us continued to astound us. In this one photo, the clouds opened up to illuminate one shining little spot, almost as if it were solely meant for my photograph, and then vanished as quickly as it came. On our return trip we stayed for a night in this bustling little surf town where I caught this young couple embracing in the midst of the happy chaos they call Montanita. Our photographic journey ended in Guayaquil, the Ecuadorian metropolis hosting some 3 million people. These two little green birds, lovers I thought, couldn’t have helped this photograph any better. All in all, an excellent trip, I hope you enjoy the photos.
