This Brooklynite and fellow Carioca were married at the Warren Conference Center
in Ashland, MA. Brazilian style is often very colorful, vivacious and full of energy; this wedding was no different. Like most of our clients this couple was very down to earth and appreciates quality without the pretense. They were also clear that they wanted their photographs to be focused on expressions, emotions and the people around them; I did just that. This couple is very much in love which was apparent from the moment they saw each other at the ceremony. The sun setting over the lake near Ashland State Park, was a nice photo location.

Here are a few pictures from the most recent engagement session that we are working on. This was a super fun couple. They were really comfortable in front of the camera and an e-session is a great way to get even more familiar with how your photographer works. We were able to get a few shots in Boston Common and along Comm Ave., always a nice area to shoot in.

The reception venue was Benjamin’s in Taunton, MA. The Creative Endeavors cake was top notch. As you can probably see, the frosting application was impeccable. This baker is in high demand so if you want to work with her, you should contact her sooner than later. The flowers were rich and fresh, provided by White Bouquet, read a review of them here. DJ Joe Lima also did a great job, for more info click here.

June 12, 2008Meeting Kevin Casey
June 11, 2008This morning Teresa (who is my fiance and office manager) and I had the honor of meeting Kevin Casey, the President and CEO of Collages.net. Not only that but he came to our office! Collages provides the online proofing and printing services for Dias Photography as well as over 10,000 other photographers. He runs a multi-million dollar company is on the board of directors at PPA the Professional Photographers of America; as well as a whole host of other accomplishments. A busy guy to say the least.
So why does he want to talk to us, I asked him? Well…. he’s on a tour going around the country talking to leading and up-and-coming studio owners. Collages wants a true perspective on what photographers’ needs are, to better accommodate them. We are already using several of Collages products i.e. albums, DVD slideshows, as well as all of our printing services. If the CEO of a company is so committed as to go personally speak to his customers, you know that company is going to provide a quality service. What that means to Dias Photography clients is that not only do you get great quality pictures and albums, but you get them quickly.

The groom of this wedding can be found on the ice rink, training on the U.S. Speed Skating Team. Both he and the bride were very friendly, genuine people; truly a pleasure to work with. They also planned a really beautiful wedding. They had a springtime, green theme that was very appropriate on this warm, vernal afternoon. The dresses, the flowers… the groom’s cake, all came together
wonderfully. I especially loved the bridesmaids dresses!
The Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, MA is a really amazing location looking over The Charles River. I should also commend the Wedding Coordinator
and staff there, because they did an exceptional job. The hotel has tons of
interesting artwork throughout the building, which were great backdrops for various photographs. All in all, a great wedding with lots of good ideas to help you plan your big event.

Remember high-school Spanish class…. the pain of trying to find the right words in another language? I get a lot more pleasure out of it these days then I did in my formative years; it’s kind of like a good stretch. The newly married Honore couple pictured here, were great. I wasn’t able to speak too much Spanish with the brides side of the family, as those Spanish-class days are long gone! : ) But fortunately my fiance who was assisting me that day is fluent. Just a bit on the personal side; my family is Cape Verdean which means we speak Portuguese, Brazilian and a little Creole. “Brasileiros e Portugueses, por favor, lentamente assim que eu posso compreender : ) ” (Brazilian and Portuguese speakers, please speak slowly, so I can understand)
What Matters Most?
June 2, 2008What matters most? In life, it’s clearly love, relationships and the people we share our limited time with. That’s why wedding celebrations are so great. But in wedding planning, what is most important? The venue, the ceremony…. the secondary ink color on your invitations : ) I’m a bit biased being a wedding photographer and all, but after the party’s over and the honeymoon is a memory, the only things left are the rings and…. the photographs. But not only does a good photographer record the happenings of the day, but he/she captures images of the people of importance to your entire family. 40 years from now, our children could be in the attic cleaning up before a move, and will come across that picture that was taken of Auntie Jane at a wedding and be brought to tears… it’s powerful and it’s real.
So here I share a glimpse of the Thompson Wedding memories. Another beautiful wedding that took place at Zukas Hilltop Barn. Also, the flowers were beautiful and really fresh, provided by Holmes-Shusas, who was rated The Knot’s Best Florist in Worcester County

The busy season is effectively in full swing; and we had lots of fun with the Spiegels in Boston Common. I love the friendly expressions and the lighting also worked out well.
