Engagement Session – Beacon Hill
July 25, 2008Back Back to Cali Cali…
July 12, 2008
Back to San Francisco to be exact, which is where this photo was taken, only about 4 years ago. We will be in CA for 9 days, returning on Monday the 21st. I will be answering emails and phone calls, just on a less frequent basis.
303 Cafe
July 11, 2008

This morning I worked on some photos for 303 Cafe in East Boston. Located on Sumner St., it’s one of our favorite spots to go to for food and drink. They always have interesting new dishes on the menu, as well as tasty beers for the hop-and-barley connoisseurs. A great vibe, matched with the right foods and even nicer people. If you’re near East Boston, check them out. See their menu here.

We’re working with New England Bride as advertisers in various brochures this year. The Opera House ad has already been published, see it here. This is our new ad for the Henderson House, and Warren Conference Center brochure. As an incentive to try us out, we’re offering a FREE engagement photo session for clients who are looking for a photographer. There is no obligation, and no purchase necessary. Serious inquiries only please.
Quiet at Quissy
July 8, 2008

This photo was taken at The Quisisana Resort on Lake Kezar in Maine, last week, and inspired by my good friend and editorial photographer Jeff Scher. Many thanks go out to the Dinaburgs, who introduced me to this amazing artists’ oasis. The Quissy experience is quite unique. As stated on the website, “Quisisana is equal parts summer camp, music festival and gourmand’s fantasy. Your stay will be filled with exquisite meals, the scent of pine, and music from Bach to Broadway.” We were there for two nights, on the first we sipped cocktails amidst the chamber music provided by the lovely performers on staff, we also saw a Broadway Review at the end of the night. On Wednesday we saw an operatic performance which was a very new experience for me, but for those of you who are into Opera, Quisisana
would be an interesting summer vacation spot (not to mention the classic clay tennis courts!).
Baby Boy Blue
July 7, 2008

How cute is this baby…. seriously? He was a total ham! I’m photographing his parents’ wedding this Fall. This couple opted to use their free engagement photo session as a baby photo session. I traveled out to their home and got some great shots of the baby and the whole new family as well. I’m also excited to share that yesterday, here at Dias Photo, we shot our new promo video. We’re making an online commercial! Sheila, from Wedding Film Design was really great to work with. She made me feel comfortable, was very professional and inspired a lot of confidence. If you’re considering a Videographer, check her out here.
Pregmalion; What’s the Story?
July 3, 2008

Pregmalion is a re-creation of the work Pygmalion. A very famous and ancient Greek Myth, tells the story of a sculptor who falls in love with his sculpture. The sculpture then comes to life and turns to embrace him. The story was made into a play, an actual sculpture and also several paintings.
Tired of traditional pregnancy photos, my fiance and I decided to recreate this famous work and title it Pregmalion. (it was actually Teresa’s idea, I must give her credit) We contacted the amazing real-life, bronze sculptor Andrew DeVries. He was very welcoming, and allowed us to photograph in his studio. (He is truly an amazing artist. If you are interested in seeing more of his work click here.) We felt the metaphor was ripe for interpretation as both of us are artists, creating our new family. If you have any ideas you’d like to have photographed, give us a call. We’re always more than to happy to work on new projects and ideas.
Romanian Orthodox
July 3, 2008

I met this couple a few weeks prior to their wedding and fell in love with them, they were so kind to each other, so warm and and very intelligent people. The only problem is that I was already booked on their wedding day. I was meeting them because my good friend and fellow photographer Nicki Dedekian was to shoot the wedding. All Dias Photography weddings are photographed by me, Edson, unless otherwise noted. This was an “otherwise noted” wedding : ) Nicki photographed the wedding and we edited, posted online and will handle on the album making, DVD’s and such. Everything went smoothly and the event was a success.
Specs: It was a Romanian Orthodox wedding held in one of the only Churches of the kind in the greater Boston area. The reception was held at Tosca Restaurant in Hingham, and if you haven’t eaten there or are considering hiring a caterer, definitely check them out. The food is gourmet and the ambiance is classic Italian. I had previously photographed a wedding there, see more pictures of Tosca here.
Cape Cod Wedding
June 30, 2008

One of the best things about a Cape Cod wedding is the uniqueness of the environment. The ceremony took place at Falmouth Heights Beach. Also, the reception at The Flying Bridge which was set against a backdrop of sailboats and lifesavers (not the candy kind) was interesting because the bride and groom were introduced by boat. These past few weeks have been sooo busy, I’ve hardly been able to keep up with the blog. Check back soon for images from tons of jobs we’re currently editing. We’re also booking up quickly for next year so if you’re getting married and still looking for a photographer, sooner is better than later! : )
Flavor of Fashion
June 22, 2008

The Andover Country Club, ranked number 1 on The Knot‘s best-of’s list, was the site where this event was held. The grounds were beautifully maintained and the decor was grand. This wedding was unique because of the couples appreciation for fashion and glamour photography. I was able to spend a little extra time with them and do some more fashion oriented photography. Other vendors were, Andover Cakes, Perfect Party Linens and Mystic Florist. This wedding also had a buffet for the dinner menu which are increasingly popular this year. I’ve had more weddings with buffets this year than ever before. It’s probably because of it’s apparent benefits. Your guests are more free to walk around and mingle as they get their food, creating a less sterile atmosphere. The food is always nice and hot as it’s being cooked just prior to plating… and it’s generally less expensive. Definitely a smart, and fun choice.
