Good Photos: Demo 1

May 7, 2008

What makes a professional photographer better than another? There are many reasons and often times I have to show my clients the difference. These photos are part of a demonstration on what great photos look like compared to standard ones. Educated brides/couples are my best clients, because they know that we offer the highest quality of work. If you know what great work looks like, then you too can be an educated consumer. These two photos were taken this past Saturday at a wedding. If you remember, the weather wasn’t very cooperative; it was actually drizzling at the time. In the photo on the left, you can see the raindrops because the photo was taken with “on-camera flash”. I will almost never use this lighting method because of its apparent problems. I will almost always light photos like the photo on the right. Other problems with the photo on the left are that on-camera flash makes your skin look shiny. It also makes the picture look flat. In the photo on the right you can see that the photo has depth, the bride’s skin looks better and just looks more natural. These are just a few of the differences. Can you tell what else looks better about the photo on the right? If so, leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you.

Babies Abound

May 2, 2008

I see pregnant women everywhere! Maybe it’s simply because we’re having a baby that I’ve noticed… that much more. This picture was taken recently and is of my beautiful fiance. It’s quickly becoming one of our recent favorites. I really enjoy the overexposure of the window and the lens flare that creates the slight greenish hue by her shoulder. I hope you like it!
