Bold and Beautiful, Colorful Country Part 3
August 4, 2010Bold and Beautiful, Colorful Country Part2
August 3, 2010I have to give special props to Tom Bruhl, the DJ pictured here. The music was bumpin’ , the crowd was jumpin’: he totally smashed it! What was most impressive about him was that he plays all the music himself. He plays so many instruments, I couldn’t even keep track. Apparently, he records all of the instruments himself and lays all of the tracks together to form a perfect, in-tune and on-time, one man band that plays all of your favorite songs, unbelievable! Check him out at TomBruhl.com
Bold and Beautiful, Colorful Country Part 1
July 29, 2010I love this first photo! The flowers, the colors, a sweet summer day on a shady porch…. forget about it! This is the first of a 3 part post of a wedding we photographed recently. It was at the beautiful Zukas Hilltop Barn in Spencer, MA. The colors at this wedding were strong and bouncy; full of energy, just like the reception! The couple was also super cute with each other…. Yay! Love!
Promises to Keep
July 28, 2010This was the wedding of my college roommate! It’s been a few years since the good ol’ days, which made it really nice to connect with friends that I haven’t seen in a while. I was also really happy to try out something new for me, photographically. The l;ast photo pictured here is a light painting. This technique has been used for many years in the fine art world, but not so much in weddings. I did it with one of those July 4th sparklers that light up. I made a 4 second exposure and had the groom wave the sparkler in front of the camera. I have another light painting coming up in a few days that I also like, check back in to see! Promises to Keep in Derry, NH was the venue, for more info on them check out the website here.
Custom Wedding Rings
July 27, 2010We totally lucked out with our wedding rings. We had Manny Camilo of Camilo Jewlers custom design our rings. OK maybe just my wife’s ring was custom designed, mine is pretty simple. We looked through a bunch of books of styles of rings and were able to pick the closest design that we liked and then had Manny modify it to our liking. He made a wax mold of the ring by hand and cast this amazing wedding ring for us. How cool is that!? Camilo Jewelers can be found in Boston at Downtown Crossing – 333 Washington St. Suite 203-10, 02108
Boston Brides, Send Your Grooms Here
July 22, 2010Frank’s Custom Tailors! Planning my own wedding proved to be the best experience in learning what my clients go through. There are so many vendors involved in planning a wedding, that a person may not realize it until they’re in the thick of things. For example; I decided that I wanted to wear a suit and not a tuxedo for my wedding. Initially I made the mistake of thinking I could get a good suit at Mr. Tux….. nope. Big mistake!
I began the search for a place to get a good suit… a real suit, with crisp lines a subtle sheen and tight fitted shoulders like all the TV people wear : ) Well, we only went to a couple different places until we found and settled on Frank’s Custom Tailors at Downtown Crossing (actually closer to Park Street). Frank’s has that old craftsman kind of feel, they’re not cheap but are really good at what they do. If you want to check them out, read their review’s here or stop by at 58 Winter St. 2nd floor, Boston, MA 617.542.1546. So here’s a few photos of what my suit looked like… and yes, that’s me rockin’ the orchid-tie look that I made up. (I had to do something to keep up with that dress!) Special thanks to Polina K. my associate photographer who took many of these amazing photos as well as my good friend James Lindley.
