Last weekend brought us to Zukas Hilltop Barn for another wedding.  I love photographing there, the staff is great and the grounds are beautiful.   Flower credits go to Carrie’s Creations in Holden, MA.  Music provided by Dan Cavanaugh from The Beat goes On.

Hello friends and readers.  You may notice that my posts are a bit less frequent.  What’s going on?  Well… our wedding is coming up in 2 weeks!  I can’t believe it’s so close.  In addition to running this wedding photography business and planning our wedding, we’re about to buy a house.  Needless to say, when you have a shot glass of time and a gallon of stuff to do, something will spill over.  What has been spilling over is unfortunately the blog.  We’ll be back to the normal 3 times a week posting next month or so.  In the meantime, I hope the following quote is of some inspiration to you.

Do not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around in awareness.

Love Erica Christina

May 20, 2010

I was getting nervous!  The 303 cafe was getting busier and the moment was drawing nearer.  Erica and I had planned out how we would Photograph The Proposal but at the last minute a couple sat down directly in front of my camera.  Secret proposal photography is always so thrilling.  My heart pumps, I breath heavier in anticipation.  It’s truly an honor to be able to witness this watershed moment in a couple’s history.  I actually didn’t get to see the moment when Erica proposed… but I heard it!  Christina whooped a giant heartfelt sigh.  It was so pure and joyous, my eyes welled up.   What a great moment!  For any of you planning on proposing to your special someone, consider having that moment photographed.  My fiance and I did and it has been such a wonderful trip to look at those photos 2 years, later and re-live the experience.  Check out PhotographTheProposal.com!

We smashed it!  This passed Monday was the Super Monday workshop that Mike Ritter and I taught.  Build Better Buzz: Effective Studio Marketing was a hit.  We had a full day of education…. it was fun, it was informative it was funormative.  We think it was pretty successful but don’t take my word for it, here’s what some of the attendees had to say”

“Very, very useful information.  Gives me lots of things to bring home and actually start using right away”

“Awesome class!

Nearly 100% of the evaluations were positive.  We may be leading another workshop in October.  If you are interested, email Edson@DiasPhoto.com.

Yay, we’ve been published again on Beantown Bride.  Sarina and Brian had a creme de la creme kind of wedding, it was absolutely beautiful.  It’s a testament to what attention to detail and some creativity will do for you.  Check out the full post here and here.

Hello and thanks for checking in this Monday morning.  I’m really happy to share that I am co-leading a workshop for photographers today.  We’re really excited and confident that it will be great!  Today’s quote I feel is appropriate; I hope it sparks an idea or two!  : )

Be a “how” thinker, not an “if” thinker.

Last week I photographed Tyrone Farms in Pomfret, CT.  It’s a beautiful, old working farm from 1742 with an inviting English formal garden, sun porch , blue stone terrace….. it’s really a special place!  I was surprised to find out that this quite back-country wedding venue is 100% SOLAR POWERED!  Absolutely amazing!  Want to have a green wedding?  Definitely go to their website and check it out, or better yet go there in person.  Needless to say I was very impressed.

It may be a bit difficult to see what’s going on in the 3rd photo, or maybe it’s even a bit abstract but I must say that I love it!  It reminds me of a flower.  It’s actually the upward angle of the wedding dress!  What d’ya think?

I have to give props to this bride.  She made all of the center pieces and created a classically beautiful, black-and-white, damask themed wedding.  I was also so very impressed with Independence Harbor in Assonet , MA.  The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and accommodating.  The grounds at Independence Harbor are gorgeous too!  From what I understand their rates are very affordable.  If you live in the southern MA area and haven’t booked your venue yet, check them out.  You also my notice that at the beginning of the day the bride was wearing a strapless A-line wedding dress.  She then changed into a really pretty and more comfortable dress (with straps) during the reception.  The second dress seems like a really good idea.  You’ll also see more photos of the 12 foot veil which made for one of my new favorite photos!
