Baby Boy Blue

July 7, 2008

How cute is this baby…. seriously? He was a total ham! I’m photographing his parents’ wedding this Fall. This couple opted to use their free engagement photo session as a baby photo session. I traveled out to their home and got some great shots of the baby and the whole new family as well. I’m also excited to share that yesterday, here at Dias Photo, we shot our new promo video. We’re making an online commercial! Sheila, from Wedding Film Design was really great to work with. She made me feel comfortable, was very professional and inspired a lot of confidence. If you’re considering a Videographer, check her out here.

Pregmalion is a re-creation of the work Pygmalion. A very famous and ancient Greek Myth, tells the story of a sculptor who falls in love with his sculpture. The sculpture then comes to life and turns to embrace him. The story was made into a play, an actual sculpture and also several paintings.
Tired of traditional pregnancy photos, my fiance and I decided to recreate this famous work and title it Pregmalion. (it was actually Teresa’s idea, I must give her credit) We contacted the amazing real-life, bronze sculptor Andrew DeVries. He was very welcoming, and allowed us to photograph in his studio. (He is truly an amazing artist. If you are interested in seeing more of his work click here.) We felt the metaphor was ripe for interpretation as both of us are artists, creating our new family. If you have any ideas you’d like to have photographed, give us a call. We’re always more than to happy to work on new projects and ideas.

Father’s Day Photos

June 12, 2008

Are Allie and Nick super cute or what?! Their Mom had me photograph them as a gift for Fathers Day. These photos were all taken right outside the house, not such a bad location. I love the first photo, I can totally see Allie being a great big sister : )

The busy season is effectively in full swing; and we had lots of fun with the Spiegels in Boston Common. I love the friendly expressions and the lighting also worked out well. New Portrait Gallery

May 28, 2008

Want to see more pictures? That’s great because we have dozens of never before posted portraits and artworks on the main website. Dias Photography has been photographing families, pregnancies, babies, couples and business people for several years. We’ve never forwardly advertised or marketed this kind of work; it basically just fell in our laps. We’ve recenlty decided to show it off! Get ideas for for your next portrait session or just brouse for fun… hope you enjoy it. To see them click on pictures, then portraits.

My fiance/studio manager and I are having a west coast baby shower. This is my suggestion for the invitations. I was unsure if blogging personal work with our names on it was a little narcissistic. But hey, I figured it’s relevant : ) This was done in our living room, with the portable lighting studio…and yes, we make house calls. Hope you like it!

Babies Abound

May 2, 2008

I see pregnant women everywhere! Maybe it’s simply because we’re having a baby that I’ve noticed… that much more. This picture was taken recently and is of my beautiful fiance. It’s quickly becoming one of our recent favorites. I really enjoy the overexposure of the window and the lens flare that creates the slight greenish hue by her shoulder. I hope you like it!

Pregnancy Candids

April 27, 2008

This is a photo of a good friend of mine, Melissa, who is also a photographer; see her work here. This was taken at the end of a wedding reception, which we shot together. This was just a quick grab shot that I liked so I figured I’d share. Her belly is pretty big and she looked truly radiant.

Loss, Healing and Hope

April 15, 2008

This March I signed up to donate my photography services to Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep which is a non-profit organization that provides photography services to families who are losing a child. If you know of anyone who may need these services, you can reach them through Dias Photography or directly, via their website.

The Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation (NILMDTS) administers a network of nearly 3,000 volunteer professional photographers in the United States and eight International countries. At a family’s request, a NILMDTS Affiliated Photographer will come to your hospital or hospice location and conduct a sensitive and private portrait session. The portraits are then professionally retouched and presented to the families on an archival DVD or CD that can be used to print portraits of their cherished baby.

Their entire network of affiliated professional photographers graciously donate their time and talents to families in need and are proud to be able to offer the services at no cost.Your donations are greatly needed and greatly appreciated. To make a donation click here.

She’s here! Congratulations to Jay and Cindy as they welcome to the world their beautiful, healthy baby girl Lexi. I look forward to many wonderful years of photographing your family.
